A paid 8-month urban forestry and environmental careers discovery program for Cambridge high school students aged 16-18.

Sign-up Information

  • Ages: 16 to 18.
  • Grades: 11th grade and 12th grade.
  • Cambridge residents only.
  • Applicants must be aged 16-18 at the start of the program and attend high school in Cambridge.
  • Application required.

Cost

This program is free. Canopy Crew is a paid internship. Crew members are paid a stipend of $3,000 over the course of the 8-month internship.

Location

The program location changes over time. In-person only.

Dates and Times

This program runs during the school year. From October–May, Canopy Crew meets 3:45-5:45pm on Wednesdays and 9am-2pm on Saturdays. Canopy Crew does not meet during winter, February, or April break.

Additional information

From October–May, crew members learn how to plant trees on private property across Cambridge to help build and grow our urban forest, while exploring green careers, practicing community outreach and engagement, and learning about environmental science, justice, art, and policy through weekly classroom sessions. Applications are open in August–September every year.
