Internal Quality Assurer (Gas & Plumbing)
Home-Based with national travel across the South, West, and East of England
Salary : £37,000 – £43,500 (depending on experience)
Hours : Full-time, 35 hours per week

We’re looking for a skilled Internal Quality Assurer to join a high-performing team focused on driving excellence in teaching, learning and assessment within work-based apprenticeships. This isn’t just about compliance – it’s about raising standards and supporting delivery teams to provide the best possible experience for learners.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in quality assurance across gas and plumbing apprenticeship programmes, supporting the delivery of high-quality training through effective sampling, observations, feedback, coaching and support. You’ll work closely with Tutors, Training Officers, and Quality Managers to embed best practices and improve learner outcomes.
This is a home-based position with regular travel across your region to support staff and learners on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned internal quality assurance sampling and observations across gas and plumbing provision
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to Tutors and Assessors to improve delivery
- Analyse sampling data and outcomes to identify development needs and ensure compliance with awarding body standards
- Prepare for and support EQA visits and audits
- Contribute to standardisation activities and wider curriculum development
- Share technical expertise with colleagues and support quality improvement initiatives
- Act as a subject matter expert, advising on assessment strategy and best practice
- Help drive a culture of continuous improvement across teaching and learning
What You’ll Need
Essential:
- A valid Level 4 IQA qualification (TAQA / V1 / D34 equivalent) – must be held prior to starting
- Significant IQA experience in gas and plumbing apprenticeships
- Level 3 qualification in Domestic Gas (e.g., Gas Installation Studies, Gas Fitting Final, or similar)
- Gas Safe registered and technically up to date
- Level 3 Award in Plumbing, Water Regulations, and Unvented Systems
- Strong knowledge of the Building Services industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident with IT systems and remote quality assurance practices
- Maths and English GCSE (A–C / 9–4) or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Experience of conducting teaching and learning observations
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely)
- ACS modules: Central Heating Boilers, Cookers & Hobs, Fires, Flue Gas Analysis
