Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor – North East & Yorkshire
Location: Home based with regional travel to Hull, York, South Yorkshire & Tyneside)
We’re seeking an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality Maths, English, and some ICT provision to apprentices across the North East and Yorkshire region. This is a hybrid role combining face-to-face delivery at regional centres (Hull, York, South Yorkshire, Tyneside) with remote learning.
What you’ll do:
- Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons (both classroom and online)
- Support apprentices to achieve Maths, English, and ICT qualifications in line with awarding body standards
- Manage a caseload of learners, tracking and reporting on progress
- Use online learning tools, LMS systems, and e-portfolios to enhance delivery
- Assist with exam bookings, invigilation, and assessment activities
- Contribute to resource development and share best practice to improve provision
What we’re looking for:
- GCSE/O Level (C/4+) in Maths & English or Level 3 equivalent
- Level 5 Diploma in Teaching with specialist Literacy or Numeracy pathway (or equivalent)
- Experience delivering Functional Skills in a post-16 environment
- Confident with BKSB, online learning platforms, and remote delivery tools
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- QTS/QTLS status
