Psychology Graduate – Leicester Job Title: Psychology/ Criminology/ Sociology/ Education Studies Graduates – Leicester Special Needs Learning Support Assistant Location: Leicester Salary Scale: TA2 Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Long Term / Temporary to Permanent GSL SEN Education is seeking Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies graduates based in Leicester to work as SEN Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in a specialist school for children with EHCPs for trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, ADHD, OCD, and related conditions. This role is ideal for sincere graduates aiming to gain practical experience in the field, supporting aspirations in Clinical Psychology, Advocacy, Youth/Social Justice, or preparing for a career in Teaching. It offers daily exposure to the nuanced and vital role of supporting children with diverse needs. Key considerations for this role include: Building relationships based on comfort through a restorative approach, prioritizing relationship over content. Demonstrating the value of education to students. Each child’s background is unique, with different mental health, trauma, cultural, and home life contexts. Building trust and relationships through a restorative model is crucial and should never be overlooked. It is important to understand and differentiate the needs within the SEN and mental health sectors. Role details: Large provision with 60 children, boys and girls aged 5-16 Working alongside outstanding SEN professionals and like-minded Psychology and Criminology graduates Potential shadowing of specialists, depending on schedules and individual needs Classes of no more than 6 students, with a mix of 1:1 and small group work tailored to individual contexts Focus on personal skills development through activities like sports, cooking, technology, music, drama, photography, and art All training and support provided by the school through their excellent training system Important: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
