The Opportunity
As a Consultant / Expert Witness in Occupational Health & Hygiene, you will blend consultancy, technical leadership and expert witness work. You will:
- Lead complex OH/hygiene consultancy projects across diverse and complex environments.
- Provide authoritative advice on exposure control, COSHH, LEV, noise, vibration, ergonomics and hazardous substances (including asbestos).
- Develop as an independent expert witness, prepare court-ready reports, giving evidence and support clients in litigation.
- Influence senior leaders and boards, helping them shape strategy, improve risk decision-making, and build resilient operations.
- Contribute to Finch's technical voice through publications, training, industry committees and thought leadership.

What We're Looking For
- Senior practitioners from industry, consultancy, or regulatory backgrounds.
- Specialists with published work, standards involvement (BOHS, IOSH, BSI, ISO, CEN), or leadership in professional networks.
- Experienced expert witnesses or those with litigation support experience.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership over work and a drive to make a meaningful contribution to the team and wider business.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with a natural ability to build relationships, share knowledge, and foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Confident communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Adaptable and flexible, comfortable managing multiple priorities, shifting deadlines, and the varying demands of consultancy work.
- Commercially aware, understanding how technical delivery contributes to client satisfaction, business reputation, and growth.

Key Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in health/hygiene.
- Relevant professional membership (e.g. CMFOH, AFOH, CEnvH).
- Deep technical expertise across the core occupational health and/or hygiene disciplines.
- Strong analytical ability, impartial reasoning, and outstanding written communication.
- Experience working in complex, regulated, or high-hazard environments (10–15 years desirable).
- Confidence engaging at senior and board level.
- Proven consultancy skills: scoping, delivering, budgeting, reporting, and presenting.
- Membership or affiliation with the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) is highly desirable.
