Role Description
The Nursery Practitioner will provide high-quality care and learning experiences for nursery-aged children in line with the school’s ethos and relevant early years frameworks. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering age-appropriate activities, observing and recording children’s progress, supporting social, emotional, and physical development, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment. The role involves working closely with colleagues to create engaging learning spaces, communicating effectively with parents and carers, and following safeguarding, health, and safety, and school policies. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Finborough School in Stowmarket, requiring consistent presence and active participation in the nursery’s daily routines.
Qualifications
- Relevant early years qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years Education and Childcare or equivalent) and knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating play-based learning activities for nursery-aged children.
- Strong skills in observation, assessment, and record-keeping to track and support children’s development.
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, with a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with children, families, and colleagues.
- Positive, patient, and caring approach, with the ability to support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Good organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to manage routines and transitions throughout the nursery day.
- Basic IT skills for documentation and communication; first aid training and previous experience in a school or nursery setting are desirable.
