An established, private equity-backed business headquartered in Manchester is embarking on an ambitious buy-and-build programme. The company has a clear five-year plan to scale from approximately ÂŁ60m turnover to over ÂŁ250m+, through a combination of organic growth and a steady cadence of acquisitions. To accelerate this journey, the business is seeking a dynamic and highly capable Corporate Development Director to lead its M&A activity end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a proactive M&A strategy aligned to the group’s growth objectives, identifying and prioritising value creative target opportunities.
- Lead all phases of the deal process: sourcing, initial approach, valuation, structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and completion.
- Build a pipeline of quality targets capable of delivering significant EBITDA growth.
- Manage relationships with external advisers (corporate finance, legal, and due diligence providers) and internal stakeholders including the private equity sponsor.
- Drive post-acquisition integration by working closely with internal management to extract synergies, strengthen management teams, and embed group governance.
- Maintain detailed reporting of M&A progress, KPIs, and value creation metrics for the Board and investors.
Candidate Profile
- Background likely in corporate finance, investment banking, or Big 4 advisory, with subsequent in-house experience in a PE-backed environment.
- A hands-on operator comfortable managing multiple live deals simultaneously and working in a lean, fast-paced structure.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and negotiation skills, with sound commercial judgment.
- Experience navigating the full investment lifecycle in a private equity context.
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and credible with senior stakeholders, yet comfortable being “in the weeds” when required.
- Manchester-based or commutable, with flexibility to travel for deals and integration work.
