Interim Group Financial Controller β 12-Month FTC / Day Rate
Duration: 12 months
EK2910
We are partnering with a Β£500m+ turnover, private equity-backed logistics business to appoint an experienced Group Financial Controller on a 12-month FTC or day-rate interim basis.
This is a business-critical role for a seasoned Group FC who can step straight into the seat, take ownership of group financial control and provide immediate stability and confidence across the finance function. With a busy CFO, the successful candidate must be a genuinely trusted pair of hands who can operate autonomously, take ownership of the detail and manage day-to-day responsibilities without significant oversight.
The role will have direct exposure to the Board and private equity investors, so the ability to deliver robust, accurate and fully Board-ready reporting is essential. The business needs someone who has done this before, understands what good looks like and can communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, proactively flagging issues and ensuring there are no surprises.
The focus is on maintaining high standards, keeping existing processes running effectively and continuing to drive sensible, incremental optimisation, rather than embarking on unnecessary transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of group financial control, ensuring accurate, timely and robust financial reporting across the group.
- Oversee group consolidation, month-end close and reporting processes, maintaining strong controls and governance.
- Deliver high-quality, Board-ready financial reporting for the CFO, Board and private equity investors.
- Act as a trusted finance representative with senior stakeholders and investors, confidently explaining performance, highlighting risks and addressing queries.
- Provide reliable day-to-day support to the CFO, taking ownership of group reporting and financial control with minimal supervision.
- Maintain strong technical accounting, compliance and financial control standards across the business.
- Continue to identify and deliver pragmatic process improvements and operational efficiencies without creating unnecessary disruption.
- Ensure the group finance function operates smoothly, with consistent reporting, clear accountability and no surprises for senior leadership.
The Ideal Candidate
- An established Group Financial Controller who has successfully operated at this level within a complex, sizeable business.
- Experience in a PE-backed environment, including Board reporting and private equity investor exposure.
- A highly experienced, pragmatic finance leader who can hit the ground running and operate as a trusted, autonomous pair of hands.
- Strong technical accounting, consolidation, group reporting and financial control expertise.
- Confident dealing directly with the Board, investors and senior stakeholders, with the credibility to challenge, communicate clearly and ensure reporting is fully Board-ready.
- Someone who can take pressure off a busy CFO by owning the detail, anticipating issues and delivering reliably without constant direction.
- Experience within logistics, manufacturing or data centre businesses is essential.
- Available for a 12-month FTC or day-rate interim assignment, based around Maidenhead.
This is an opportunity for a proven Group FC to step into a senior role within a PE-backed business, provide dependable financial leadership and investor-ready reporting, and give the CFO confidence that group financial control is in safe hands for the next 12 months.
