Our client is a private equity-backed recruitment group with revenues of approximately £75m, operating across the UK and internationally. Following recent investment from a mid-market PE fund, the business is entering a critical phase of its investment cycle. They are looking to appoint an experienced Interim Financial Director to provide senior finance leadership and support the management team through the next stage of growth.

The role will work closely with the CEO, Board and PE sponsor, with an initial focus on strengthening financial reporting, improving cash visibility and supporting the integration of recent acquisitions.

The Role

  • Taking overall responsibility for the finance function
  • Improving the quality and timeliness of monthly management reporting
  • Providing clear financial reporting to the CEO, Board and PE investor
  • Strengthening budgeting, forecasting and FP&A processes
  • Improving cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management
  • Reviewing and improving finance processes and controls
  • Supporting the integration of recent acquisitions
  • Improving visibility of consultant productivity, revenue and profitability
  • Developing commercial KPIs across the recruitment businesses
  • Working with the CEO and PE sponsor on value-creation initiatives
  • Supporting the business through its next stage of growth

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an experienced Interim FD / CFO with a strong track record within PE-backed recruitment or professional services businesses. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous Interim FD / Finance Director / CFO experience
  • Experience within recruitment, staffing, talent solutions or professional services
  • Previous PE-backed experience
  • Experience in businesses with £20m–£100m turnover
  • Strong commercial and operational finance experience
  • Experience working directly with PE investors and Boards
  • Strong understanding of recruitment KPIs and consultant economics
  • Experience improving finance functions and reporting infrastructure
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
