The Opportunity:
Finatal is working with a sought-after private equity fund operating in the lower mid-market looking for an Investment Director to join a high performing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join and lead deals at a private equity firm in a thriving part of the market.
The successful candidate will have had demonstratable private equity tech/software investing/M&A experience.
Responsibilities:
- The investment director will primarily be focused with the origination and execution of deals out of the newest fund and beyond in their relevant jurisdiction, supporting the deal efforts of the business. This Includes:
- Supporting the development of the fund’s presence across the UK and Europe, elevating the brand and educating market participants about their focus and modus operandi
- Helping build and cultivate strong relationships with the advisory community, ensuring we are amongst the first to hear about all new relevant opportunities
- Managing and proactively building other origination channels and networks to identify other on, off and edge-of-market opportunities.
- Identifying interesting sector niches and carrying out targeted off-market origination activities.
- Quickly learn to qualify opportunities and be able to apply to a range of deal structures according to the situation
- Be a deal captain, accountable for leading deals from origination, structuring and negotiation, through to completion, managing all stakeholders throughout the process
- Co-ordinating internal resources and external advisors to quickly and effectively conduct due diligence
- Leading the commercial aspects of financial due diligence and owning detailed operational models which underpin the investment case
- Post-deal, keep close to portfolio company strategy and focus, to ensure any/all relevant deals we see are screened both as potential bolt-ons and also learning opportunities.
- The role will be to support the origination all the way through to execution of deals
- Leading on portfolio value creation where applicable on deals
- Assisting in mentoring new joiners and overall growth of both fund and personal profile
Requirements:
- The role is best suited to someone with a minimum 8-12 years professional experience, with a significant portion of this (minimum 4 years) being corporate finance/M&A experience.
- A qualified Chartered Accountant
- Strong academics are a must (min 2.1 from a leading university)
- Excellent communicator with a high level of maturity
- Highly ambitious and calm under pressure
- Able to deliver high quality work without intense review and oversight
