This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth ESG and environmental services business, backed by a leading private equity investor and positioned at the forefront of the sustainability agenda. With group revenues of approximately £150m and ambitious expansion plans, the business is delivering innovative, impactful solutions that directly contribute to a greener future.
Following a period of significant growth — both organic and via acquisition — the business is seeking a commercially astute Interim Group Financial Controller to support the Group CFO and bring rigor, clarity, and control to a fast-moving, multi-project environment.
The Opportunity:
As Interim Group Financial Controller, you will step into a pivotal leadership role at a key moment in the group’s journey — overseeing the core finance function, tightening controls, enhancing reporting, and driving high-impact projects across the business.
You’ll need to thrive in complexity: managing multiple workstreams, supporting ongoing integration and transformation activity, and working hand-in-hand with a high-performing CFO and private equity stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure monthly and accurate delivery of group financials in line with UK GAAP/IFRS
- Oversee tax strategy, transfer pricing and R&D tax credit claims.
- Lead the strategic direction of financial systems, ensuring the implementation of best in class finance platforms.
- Prepare board-ready reports and liaise directly with PE investors on financial performance
- Provide hands-on support to the CFO and SLT during a period of rapid evolution
Your Profile:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant post-qualified experience
- Proven experience as a Group or Divisional Financial Controller in a PE-backed or high-growth business
- Technically strong (UK GAAP/IFRS), with exceptional attention to detail and control
- Experienced in running multiple projects concurrently, ideally including M&A integration, systems change, and process transformation
- Prior exposure to the environmental, sustainability or ESG sectors is beneficial but not essential
