Finatal are partnering exclusively with a leading, a £20m t/o, PE-backed materials handling business, operating hire, leasing, and maintenance, and experiencing significant growth through acquisition. They are seeking a proactive and commercially-minded FP&A Manager to work closely with the CFO. This role is central to driving financial insight, supporting decision-making governance and enabling strategic initiatives.
You will work across the business to influence decision-making, translate complex financial information into actionable insight, and partner on both operational and strategic initiatives-including budget planning, reporting system development, and acquisition integration. Advanced Excel and Power BI skills are critical for success in this role.
What you will be doing
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior operational leaders in a private equity-backed environment.
- Partner with business leaders across hire, leasing, sales, and maintenance operations to support revenue growth, gross profit generation, and overall business performance.
- Provide challenge and insight, influencing commercial, operational, and strategic decisions.
- Support business case development, from early-stage concept through fully developed proposals, including operational projects and potential acquisition opportunities.
- Deliver accurate and insightful performance reporting to enable effective decision-making.
- Translate complex financial trends into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Build, maintain, and enhance advanced Excel financial models to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Design and manage Power BI dashboards to provide real-time, visual insights across hire, leasing, maintenance, and depot operations.
Strategic Planning
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and KPI planning, monitoring performance against budget and forecast.
- Identify variances and support mitigation strategies.
- Provide financial input into operational initiatives, capex decisions, and acquisition planning.
- Develop and improve reporting systems to provide timely insight for decision-making.
About You
- Excel expert, with strong financial modelling skills to analyse complex operational and commercial data.
- Experienced in Power BI, with the ability to design dashboards and translate data into actionable business insight.
- Comfortable handling a highly hands-on, sole FP&A role in a fast-moving, PE-backed, operational business.
- Experienced in partnering with C-suite and senior stakeholders, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insight.
- Able to implement and enhance budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Personable and approachable, with the confidence to challenge assumptions.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and supporting growth in a dynamic, acquisitive organisation.
- Reading-based (accessible by car only), onsite 3 days per week.
