We are partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed, subscription-based D2C consumer business with approximately £20m revenue, operating across the UK, France and Spain, to appoint a commercially minded and ambitious Chief Financial Officer. This is a pivotal leadership role at an exciting stage of the company's journey, with a clear objective to scale the business, accelerate value creation and prepare for an exit within the next three years.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board and PE investors, the CFO will take ownership of the finance function while playing a broader role in shaping the company's growth strategy, operational performance and value creation agenda. The business has an established finance team of three and is looking for a CFO who can combine strong technical finance capability with genuine commercial and operational leadership. You will be instrumental in:

  • Leading the financial strategy and planning for the next phase of growth
  • Working closely with the CEO, Board and PE sponsor on the value creation plan
  • Driving rigorous financial and commercial performance management
  • Developing the financial infrastructure to support a scaling subscription business
  • Improving visibility and management of key subscription metrics, including recurring revenue, retention, churn, customer acquisition economics and lifetime value
  • Strengthening reporting, forecasting, cash management and financial controls
  • Supporting growth across the UK, France and Spain
  • Developing the existing finance team and ensuring the function scales with the business
  • Providing insight and challenge to the wider leadership team
  • Supporting strategic initiatives including pricing, customer economics, margin optimisation and operational efficiency
  • Leading the business through a three-year exit process, ensuring it is appropriately structured, controlled and positioned for a successful transaction

The Ideal CFO

We are looking for an experienced CFO or Finance Director who is comfortable operating in a PE-backed, entrepreneurial and fast-paced subscription environment. You are likely to have:

  • Experience in a subscription, D2C, consumer, e-commerce or recurring-revenue business
  • Previous experience working with a private equity-backed business
  • A strong track record of delivering growth and operational improvement
  • Excellent commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into clear business decisions
  • A strong understanding of subscription economics and recurring revenue models
  • Experience managing and developing a finance team
  • Strong cash flow, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting capabilities
  • Experience working across multiple territories and/or international entities
  • The confidence and credibility to work effectively with investors, the Board and senior management
  • Ideally, experience of preparing a business for sale, refinancing or other corporate transaction

Most importantly, this is not a role for a purely technical or back-office CFO. We are looking for someone who wants to get close to the commercial engine of the business, influence decisions and materially increase enterprise value.

Why This Role?

This is a genuine value-creation CFO opportunity. You will join a business with meaningful scale, an established international footprint and PE backing, but with significant opportunity still ahead. With an anticipated exit in around three years, the successful CFO will have the opportunity to make a visible impact on growth, profitability, recurring revenue and shareholder value, with an equity component aligned to that outcome.
