The Corporate Communications team at Apollo, which leads all communications, corporate brand and corporate marketing activities globally, is seeking a new team member who is a self-starter with strong writing and media relations skills, excellent project management skills and exceptional judgement. This role will be based in the London office covering Apollo’s business in Europe. The ideal candidate for this role is an accomplished communications professional with keen intellect, creativity, tireless work ethic, and significant expertise in the investment and private capital spaces. It will be important to have hands-on experience in financial communications (including both credit and equities), M&A communications, and crisis management. This professional will have high EQ, good mental agility, and the confidence and presence to earn the trust of Apollo's top leaders. The Principal will serve as a key member of a lean and high impact team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working with Apollo executives and teams across business lines to develop and implement strategic communications plans that support the broader franchise as well as specific investment strategies and business areas.
  • Proactive media engagement and story generation across key EMEA markets, including investment and product communications, issues management, and enterprise and office-related communications.
  • Creating informative, persuasive and concise communications and corporate marketing content that obtain measurable results.
  • Planning and executing speaking engagements on behalf of senior executives.
  • Messaging and materials generation including press releases, briefing notes, talking points, internal and external content.
  • Ad-hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with hands-on media relations skills and expertise in financial, transactional and corporate communications.
  • Experience in issues management, public affairs, reputational risk and crisis communications.
  • Proven ability to consistently make sound judgments, engage and build trust with senior executives and effectively collaborate with others.
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Track record of establishing, building and managing meaningful relationships with media, key stakeholders, executives, journalists and global colleagues.
  • Demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style, responding quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills; and experience or deep understanding of communicating across varied platforms, content types and technologies.
  • Acute attention to detail, ability to multi-task, willingness and desire to learn and work well within a team are critical.
  • Unquestionable professional and personal integrity.
  • A team-player with intense curiosity, adaptability and excellent work ethic.
