The role

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the role holder will be responsible for business partnering with leadership teams in Editorial, FT Specialist, Finance & Communications. The role involves co-creating and implementing our people strategy and objectives to support FT\’s business strategy. It suits a People Business Partner experienced in working with a highly creative and independent workforce, with good humour and heart.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and contribute to the development and execution of FT’s people strategy as a member of the People leadership team.
  • Work proactively with editorial leadership to support diversity & inclusion, talent retention, succession, engagement, mergers and acquisitions, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and other queries.
  • Develop trusted partnerships with business leaders, providing thought leadership, challenge, and pragmatic, solutions-focused coaching and advice.
  • Handle escalated employee relations matters at senior management level.
  • Support union consultation meetings, including annual pay negotiations.
  • Partner with talent acquisition, learning & talent, global mobility, and People services teams to design and implement people solutions.
  • Work with the People systems team to report on and analyze key People metrics, providing insights and identifying opportunities.
  • Build external networks within and outside the media sector to enhance market knowledge and bring insights to FT.

  • Experience in a unionized setting or dealing with union dynamics.

This role is a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover contract.
