The role
The Financial Times is seeking a Head of Audio at an exciting time for the development of podcasts around the world. Podcasts play an important role at the Financial Times, allowing our audience to discover and connect with our journalism, across their day, in an accessible format. The Head of Audio reports to the Head of Digital Strategy. This is to guarantee that audio contributes effectively to our reach strategy by engaging both current and prospective FT subscribers on external platforms.
Core responsibilities
- Develop innovative audio content, particularly video-first formats
- Develop content that responds to audience growth opportunities, in line with the FT’s broader strategy
- Work closely with other digital newsroom teams, particularly those managing video journalism and social media platforms
- Oversee editorial, production, and technical teams to produce high-quality audio, from daily news to investigative series
- Oversee the departmental budget
- Work with commercial and editorial leadership to align business and newsroom goals
