The Role

We are looking for a driven sales professional to manage finance clients. Reporting to the Group Head (Banking and Finance), the successful candidate will build strong, cross-functional relationships across the FT — collaborating with editorial, marketing, advertising operations, and campaign teams to develop outcome-based, insight-led commercial proposals that align with client critical metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of finance clients’ relationships, using strategic sales approaches to drive 10% YoY revenue growth.
  • Apply creative thinking to develop custom, insight-led proposals that deliver on client critical metrics, using both content and display advertising solutions.
  • Trade confidently within FT’s trading framework and collaborate with the trading and yield teams to build customised trading strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with planning and buying teams at agencies and establish direct relationships with multiple client-side partners per account.
  • Demonstrate persuasive communication skills in face-to-face and virtual meetings with senior client and partners.
  • Track and manage opportunities, contacts and client conversations using Salesforce and Slack daily, ensuring data accuracy and visibility across teams.
  • Use internal data tools such as Looker and partner closely with CSI to generate research and insights that strengthen client proposals and demonstrate FT’s value.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input from editorial, marketing, operations, and content teams to shape and deliver high-impact proposals.
  • Deliver at least one proactive content solution per quarter aligned with finance industry trends and FT editorial direction.
  • Represent the FT in 4-6 client meetings per week, championing our brand and deepening commercial partnerships.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in digital media sales with experience in trading and negotiation.
  • Strong client-facing skills with confidence speaking to senior partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to different audiences.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and ability to manage pipeline effectively.
  • Data and insight fluency using tools like Looker and internal CSI support.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Working knowledge of the finance advertising landscape.
  • Experience developing content-led solutions in addition to display media.
  • Understanding of FT’s competitive set and how to position FT’s USPs effectively.
  • Familiarity with internal FT teams including campaign management and print production.
