The Senior Policy and Insights Manager plays a pivotal role in FSCS's policy, strategic insights and horizon-scanning capability, ensuring the organisation can anticipate, understand and respond effectively to developments across the regulatory, political, economic and financial services landscape.
The role combines policy expertise with strong public affairs awareness, providing insight into the political, regulatory and stakeholder environment to help shape FSCS's strategic positioning and external influence. The role provides expert analysis and evidence-based recommendations that inform strategic decision-making, organisational priorities and FSCS's engagement with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Policy development and delivery: Lead the delivery of FSCS's policy and insights programme and provide expert analysis and thought leadership on regulatory, legislative and policy developments.
- Horizon scanning, strategic insight and sense-making: Lead FSCS's horizon-scanning and strategic insights activities, identifying emerging risks, opportunities and trends across the political, regulatory, economic and market landscape.
- Regulatory relations and external engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, government departments, industry bodies and other key stakeholders.
- Leadership and team management: Provide strategic leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team spanning policy, insights, stakeholder engagement and public affairs.
- Collaboration and organisational impact: Partner across FSCS to ensure policy, insight and external intelligence inform strategic planning, risk management and operational decision-making.

- Experience developing policy positions, consultation responses and evidence-based recommendations for senior stakeholders.

- Excellent written, verbal and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively.
- Strong strategic thinking, judgement and decision-making capability.
- Demonstrates proficiency in leveraging technology, automation, data and AI-enabled capabilities.
Experience working within a financial services regulator, financial services organisation, government department, trade association or public body would be advantageous but is not essential.
