Cyber Security Officer (Apprentice)

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Cyber Security team as an apprentice. This role is a fixed‑term contract of 24 months, with a pathway to a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and conduct root‑cause analysis on complex security incidents in partnership with senior analysts.
  • Deploy and manage security tools, perform regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans across corporate environments.
  • Act as the first responder to escalated security tickets, reviewing logs and system activities in monitoring tools.
  • Maintain and update security documentation, playbooks, and standard operating procedures for BAU tasks.
  • Support security awareness programs, including phishing simulations and training updates for employees.
  • Research and evaluate emerging security technologies and open‑source intelligence (OSINT) tools to enhance defensive capabilities.
  • Stay informed on emerging cyber threats, zero‑day vulnerabilities, and global threat intelligence to proactively adjust internal defenses.

Minimum Criteria

  • At least 64 UCAS points from Level 3 qualifications, including Maths.
  • Will be at least 18 years old on enrolment (September 2026) and not in full‑time education.
  • Right to work in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship and be a resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to start.

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, operating systems, cloud environments, and modern threat landscapes.
  • Strong problem‑solving and investigative skills demonstrated through relevant experience.
  • Passion for threat tracking, with evidence of engaging with cyber‑security news, vendor advisories, and threat intelligence feeds.
