The role: As a GI Claims Handler, you'll manage Legal Expenses Insurance claims from first notification through to settlement, ensuring every decision is fair, compliant and customer-focused. You'll work closely with panel and non-panel solicitors, review policy coverage, manage reserves and monitor claim progression while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical claims expertise with stakeholder management and customer service.
What you'll be doing:
- Reviewing and assessing claims against policy cover and eligibility criteria
- Making clear, fair and evidence-based indemnity decisions
- Managing claims through their lifecycle to settlement
- Instructing and liaising with panel and non-panel legal representatives
- Monitoring costs, challenging budgets and controlling claim spend
- Setting and reviewing reserves
- Supporting vulnerable customers and delivering positive Consumer Duty outcomes
- Maintaining accurate records and management information
- Ensuring compliance with FCA requirements including Consumer Duty, ICOBS and DISP
- Identifying trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement
What we're looking for: We're interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- Previous claims handling experience within General Insurance, Legal Expenses Insurance or a related insurance environment
- Strong understanding of policy wordings and claims decision-making
- Knowledge of FCA regulations, including Consumer Duty, ICOBS and DISP
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- A passion for delivering fair customer outcomes
It would be advantageous if you have experience working with legal expenses claims, delegated authorities, TPAs or quality assurance and file reviews.
