Up to £50,000 + bonus & benefits. Want to work directly alongside an experienced Financial Adviser, take ownership of complex cases and genuinely use your technical expertise? This could be an excellent next move. I am working with a well-established, highly respected Independent Financial Planning firm based on the outskirts of Woking, who are creating a brand-new Senior Paraplanner position within their growing business. This is not a role where you'll simply be processing paperwork from a distance. You will work closely with a Director/Adviser on a 1-2-1 basis, becoming a key part of their client proposition and providing technical support across a portfolio of HNW and complex financial planning cases.

THE BUSINESS

This is a boutique wealth planning firm with a genuinely long-term approach to client relationships. Their clients include HNW retirees, accumulators, business owners, local families and SME directors, with assets ranging from around £100k through to several million pounds. The advice proposition covers the full spectrum of holistic financial planning, including:

  • Pensions and retirement planning
  • Investments and portfolio planning
  • Cashflow modelling
  • Tax planning
  • IHT and estate planning
  • Protection
  • Trusts and more complex planning arrangements

Many client relationships have been established for 20+ years, so this is a business where quality, trust and personal service genuinely matter.

THE ROLE

As Senior Paraplanner, you will provide end-to-end technical paraplanning support to a Director/Adviser, working across existing client relationships and new business. You'll be involved from the initial analysis and research through to suitability, implementation and ongoing review. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing Fact Finds, client records and meeting notes
  • Undertaking detailed financial analysis and research
  • Preparing cashflow models and analysing existing portfolios
  • Researching pensions, investments and relevant financial planning solutions
  • Preparing high-quality suitability reports, illustrations and supporting documentation
  • Supporting pension transfers, drawdown, investments, IHT and protection cases
  • Preparing advisers for client meetings and reviews
  • Attending client meetings where required
  • Working closely with advisers, paraplanners and administrators to ensure cases progress smoothly
  • Maintaining strong relationships with product and service providers
  • Keeping abreast of legislation, regulation and best practice
  • Playing an active role within the firm's in-house Investment Committee

There is also genuine opportunity to develop your career, with support towards further qualifications and Chartered status where appropriate.

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR?

You'll need to be an experienced Paraplanner with the technical ability and confidence to work on complex financial planning cases. Ideally, you will have:

  • Level 6 Advanced Diploma / equivalent
  • At least 4 years' Paraplanning experience
  • Experience within an IFA or Wealth Management environment
  • Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, taxation, protection, trusts and IHT
  • Experience with platforms and systems such as Intelliflo, FE Analytics and cashflow planning software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A conscientious, analytical and solution-focused approach
  • The ability to work independently whilst being a genuine team player
  • A desire to continue developing technically and professionally
  • Ideally, you will be working towards Chartered status

Most importantly, they're looking for someone who takes pride in producing excellent work and wants to become a trusted technical partner to the adviser they support.

WHAT'S ON OFFER?

£50,000 basic salary – dependent upon experience. Plus:

  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
  • Pension
  • Death in Service
  • Support with professional qualifications and career development
  • Sociable and professional working environment
  • Free parking

THE OPPORTUNITY

For the right Paraplanner, this represents the chance to step into a newly created position with genuine ownership, working alongside an experienced adviser and dealing with interesting, technically demanding financial planning work. If you're an experienced Paraplanner looking for a role where your technical knowledge will be valued, your work will have a visible impact and there is room to develop your career, I'd be very interested in hearing from you.
