An established and growing wealth management business, with offices conveniently located for candidates across Basildon and surrounding Essex areas, is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Paraplanner to join its team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced paraplanner who enjoys the technical side of financial planning, wants to work closely with experienced Advisers and is looking for a business where they can continue to develop their career.
The Role
Working alongside a team of Financial Advisers, you will provide high-quality technical paraplanning support across a varied range of financial planning cases.
You will be involved in researching and analysing complex client circumstances, developing appropriate solutions and preparing high-quality suitability reports and recommendations.
The role will cover a broad range of areas, including:
- Pensions and retirement planning
- Investments
- Trusts
- Whole-of-market research
- Tax-efficiency reviews
- Cash-flow forecasting
- Inheritance Tax calculations
- FE Analytics
- ONM
- Technical report writing
- Consumer Duty and its application to financial planning
You will work across different Advisers and advice styles, so the ability to adapt, think independently and understand the rationale behind different recommendations will be important.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced Technical Paraplanner who can bring strong technical knowledge and operate confidently within an IFA / independent financial planning environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Level 4 qualification in Financial Planning
- Experience working towards Chartered status would be advantageous
- Strong technical paraplanning experience
- Whole-of-market research experience
- Good knowledge of pensions, investments and trusts
- Experience with FE Analytics and ONM
- Strong cash-flow modelling experience
- Experience undertaking tax-efficiency reviews
- Excellent technical report-writing skills
- An understanding of Consumer Duty and the changes introduced in 2024
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The confidence to work across multiple Advisers and different recommendations
- A proactive approach to keeping up with financial services news, regulation and market developments
More Than Just Processing
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to follow instructions.
The business is looking for someone who thinks proactively, understands the wider client picture and can use their technical knowledge to support and challenge Advisers where appropriate.
You'll need to be comfortable working through change, as the business continues to develop its systems, CRM and data processes.
The firm is also embracing new technology and exploring the use of AI within report writing. However, strong fundamental technical knowledge and excellent report-writing ability remain essential.
Career Development
The business is committed to developing its people, making this an excellent opportunity for a Level 4 qualified Paraplanner who wants to continue progressing towards Chartered status and broaden their technical expertise.
You will have exposure to a varied client base and complex financial planning requirements, working alongside experienced Advisers and other technical professionals.
The Package
Salary: Circa £50,000
Location: Colchester, Essex
Role: Permanent, full-time
Qualification: Level 4 required
Chartered: Support towards progression would be advantageous
