CareerMakers Recruitment is currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Fitter on behalf of our client based in Kirkby. This is a hands-on role supporting site operations and maintaining heavy plant machinery and aggregate wash plant systems. It is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge and a proactive approach to maintenance and uptime.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm
- Saturday: 7:00am - 1:00pm (when required)
- Additional overtime available when necessary
- Expected hours: 47.5-60 per week
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy plant machinery including excavators, loading shovels, screeners and crushers
- Service and maintain aggregate wash plant systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise uptime
- Monitor plant performance and ensure operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and maintenance logs
- Work collaboratively with plant operators, fitters and management
- Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Previous experience maintaining heavy plant machinery
- Experience with aggregate wash plant maintenance highly desirable
- Good understanding of health & safety within an industrial environment
- Basic computer literacy for reporting and record keeping
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
- Must be able to commute to the Kirkby site (L33 area)
- Flexible to work overtime and weekends when required
