We are expanding our machining department and have multiple opportunities for Manual Horizontal Borer Setter/Operators and CNC Horizontal Borer Setter/Operator/Programmers across both day and night shifts. These roles involve machining medium to heavy components to precision standards in a busy engineering environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Set and operate horizontal boring or milling machines (manual or CNC depending on role).
- Interpret and work from customer engineering drawings and specifications.
- Machine medium to heavy workpieces to required tolerances.
- Carry out self-inspection using standard measuring equipment.
- Maintain machine cleanliness, basic upkeep, and safe operation.
- Complete necessary quality and production documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production deadlines.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures.
- Support overtime requirements in line with operational needs.

Pay: £17.00 – £20.00 per hour (skill dependent) - CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer Setter/Operator/Programmer
Shift: 1 position just nights

Requirements
- Experience setting and operating manual horizontal boring machines or a strong milling background.
- Ability to work from customer drawings and specifications.
- Confident in self-inspection.
- Willing to work overtime when required.
CNC Horizontal Borer Setter/Operator/Programmer Requirements
- Experience setting, operating and programming CNC horizontal boring/milling machines using Heidenhain controls.
- Capable of working to drawings and specifications for medium to heavy components.
- Confident in self-inspection.
- Willing to work overtime as needed.
CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer Setter/Operator/Programmer Requirements
- Experience setting, operating, and programming CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls.
- Familiarity with Cimco CAD/CAM or Fusion for programming is beneficial.
- Ability to work to drawings and specifications.
- Confident in self-inspection.
- Willing to work overtime when required.
Shift Patterns
- Day Shift (37 paid hours)
Mon Thu: 08:00 – 16:30
Fri: 08:00 – 13:00
30‑minute unpaid lunch Mon‑Thu; no lunch on Friday
Expected to complete at least 10 hours overtime per week
Overtime paid time and a third on Weekdays, time and a half on Sundays - Night Shift (4 12‑hour shifts)
Mon Thu: 18:00 – 06:00
Paid lunch break
Overtime available Friday after 13:00, plus Saturday & Sunday, paid at time and a half
