The Role

You will join a specialist team within a niche industrial hose and assembly environment, supporting production through high-quality TIG welding and assembly duties. Comprehensive in-house training will be provided, with a structured development programme and competency progression pathway.

Key Responsibilities

  • TIG welding of components, including thin materials
  • Picking components and preparing assemblies
  • Providing downstream departments with completed assemblies
  • Liaising with multiple teams to ensure smooth workflow
  • Recording quality failures and reporting to the Quality Department
  • Following fault-finding procedures
  • Using in-house systems for H&S and quality data entry

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Competent TIG welder
  • Experience with stainless steel, carbon steel or aluminium (aluminium highly desirable)
  • Good English comprehension for safety compliance
  • Basic IT skills (data entry, email)
  • Able to work with measurements, angles and simple calculations
  • Motivated, adaptable and willing to learn
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good attitude and willingness to undergo extensive training
  • Mechanical assembly experience beneficial but not essential
  • ASME IX certification desirable but not essential
  • Machinery operation or manufacturing background advantageous
  • FLT licences beneficial but not required (training available)

Hours & Pay

Monday – Friday, 7am–3pm (37.5 hrs/week)

1 x 15-min paid break, 1 x 30-min unpaid lunch

Starting pay: £13.81/hour, due to training likely required

Candidates with the necessary experience may receive a higher starting rate

Pay may increase post-probation based on performance

Temp-to-perm pathway: 12 weeks (9-week probation), followed by permanent offer upon successful performance

Interview Process (On Site)

  • Face-to-face with Engineering Manager + on-site Welder
  • 1-hour skills test (weld test using scrap materials)
  • Site walk-through and process discussion
  • PPE required: Bring steel toe caps and fire-retardant clothing
  • Safety glasses & hi-vis provided on-site (or can bring your own)

Team & Training

  • 4 Welders, 1 Hose Tester, 4 Assemblers
  • Cross-training encouraged across roles
  • Extensive training programme
  • Full independence typically achieved after ~8 months
  • Optional FLT training available
