Senior Consumer Duty Delivery
Division – Consumer Policy and Outcomes (CPO)
Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £61,800 and London £57,700 to £68,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)
About the FCA
The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive.
We are recruiting for one permanent position and one 12-Month Fixed Term Contract within the Consumer Duty Delivery Team.
The Consumer Duty Delivery team is part of the Consumer Policy and Outcomes (CPO) Department, within the Cross Cutting Policy and Strategy Directorate. The directorate’s goal is to maintain a regulatory framework that sets clear standards we expect all firms and individuals operating in UK financial services to prevent harm to consumers and markets.
Since the Consumer Duty came into force in 2023, the Delivery team’s work has not stopped. Their work includes coordinating the FCA’s organisational Consumer Duty workplan and leading on cross-cutting initiatives such as consumer understanding, outcomes monitoring and work related to Smaller Firms. Currently, the team is focused on how the Duty is being embedded both within regulated firms and across the FCA itself.
What will you be doing?
- Support delivery of the current work programme, including cross-cutting projects on distribution chains, consumer understanding, and outcomes monitoring
- Work with the Consumer Duty Policy team and colleagues across sectors to join the dots, identify and address harm and develop internal and external publications
- Contribute to impactful projects such as work on smaller firms, raising awareness of the Duty externally and supporting with Authorisations, Supervision and Enforcement to ensure consistent understanding of the Duty
- Support senior leadership and colleagues across the FCA with briefing, speeches and training on the Consumer Duty
- Be involved in critical and impactful projects which will ensure the Duty can be most effective in achieving good outcomes for consumers

Minimum
- Experience of analytical capability gained through research, economics, insight or policy work, using data from a variety of sources
- Experience in drafting and delivering complex and strategic written proposals and communications
- Experience in project work, combining input from experts and your own analysis to achieve a shared goal
Essential
- The ability to build expertise quickly on applying the Consumer Duty
- The ability to deploy existing expertise, or build expertise quickly, on how risks of harm to consumers can crystalise in specific sectors, portfolios and business models
- Proven experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, both internal and external
- A background in leading the delivery of project work as part of high-performing multi-disciplinary teams
- The ability to work flexibly to achieve team goals and good outcomes for consumers
- Evidence of problem solving and organisational skills with the ability to manage and support a variety of priorities and issues
