The Strategic Communications and News Department is a new one in the FCA’s communications Directorate. This department is at the heart of what and how the organisation communicates – working with the strategy team to help set and deliver the FCA’s external communication objectives and ensuring that our communication is clear, concise and compelling. The department is split into five teams: 3 focussed on strategic communications and news, editorial and speechwriting and a social media team, the team where this role sits.
This role is key to delivering enhanced social media communications for the FCA – paid for and organic – in support of our priorities, influencing key audiences and opinion formers to deliver public confidence and behaviour change objectives. This role will develop and shape social-first content ideas across two of our campaign areas, evaluate engagement and contribute to the solid performance of this small but important team.
Role Responsibilities
- To support the Lead Associate on content creation, planning, scheduling & reporting.
- To help deliver the social media strategy for organic and paid-for content by working effectively and collaboratively with Strategic Comms Partners, the Design team and other colleagues in the FCA.
- Day‑to‑day responsibility for their campaign areas: planning and producing engaging and accessible content for our target consumer and firm audiences.
- Staying on top of trends and best practice, bringing inspiration to the team for how to make our channels effective and sharing knowledge with communications colleagues.
- Monitoring and analysing social media performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and make data driven changes to the output on our feeds.
- Ensuring consistency in brand messaging, tone and visual identity across channels.
Minimum Skills required
- Substantial experience of managing corporate social media accounts and a solid understanding of relevant platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
- Experience of video creation and editing for social media, including use of the Adobe design suite.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering impactful creative social media campaigns.
- Experience of turning complex technical content into engaging and original posts which align our brand and accessibility guidelines.
Essential
- Journalism or digital marketing qualification.
- Practical experience with relevant platforms, tools and systems to support social media management, e.g. Hootsuite.
- Able to work with colleagues and influence stakeholders professionally and constructively to deliver their work.
- Able to get started quickly and manage multiple streams of work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Solid technical understanding of social media platforms, trends and opportunities – including those offered by AI.
- Ability to quickly turn complex information into clear, compelling, concise social‑first content tailored to the platform and audience.
- Advanced copywriting skills incorporating digital first principles.
