The Financial Conduct Authority regulates financial services firms in the UK, ensuring markets are fair, thriving and effective. The Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) division oversees firms and individuals, creates and reviews regulatory rules, and addresses issues of market competition.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of a data‑led monitoring approach to identify market‑wide risks of concentration, leverage and interconnectedness across UK markets.
  • Lead, design and communicate analytical assessments of market‑wide risks using risk‑sensitive data and visualisations.
  • Recommend measures to reduce identified risks through firm outreach, publications or tailored analyses.
  • Design and lead real‑time assessment of the health of market functioning in normal and stress periods; lead responses to market events, coordinating with firms and stakeholders to mitigate impacts.
  • Communicate internal and external insights on market monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Work as part of a team to undertake proactive thematic projects on risks across the market.

Minimum Skills Required

  • Significant expertise and experience in fixed income, equity, rates, derivatives or commodities markets.
  • Significant experience producing strong analytical outputs, using data and analysis to assess overall risks related to trading strategies or market functions.
  • Demonstrable experience leading projects independently, delivering high‑quality outputs on time.
