About the FCA and team
We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth and shaping the future of financial services in the UK.
SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition). The Serious Organised Crime (SOC) & Fraud Team, part of Market Interventions Digital Assets (MIDA), focuses on tackling the most serious criminal harms impacting the UK payments and digital assets sectors.
We work at the intersection of intelligence, supervision, investigations and law enforcement partnerships, using the FCA’s regulatory tools to reduce harm and address criminal activity. It's an exciting time to join us. As the crypto and payments landscape continues to evolve, we’re expanding our capability to identify emerging threats, build on our intelligence-led approach, and deliver more impactful interventions across the system. To help us do that, we're recruiting two Senior Associates to join the team.
We're looking for people who are passionate about tackling harm, curious about how criminal threats evolve, and willing to think creatively about how the FCA can identify and disrupt them.
The two posts have different security-clearance requirements: one requires Developed Vetting (DV) and the other Security Clearance (SC). Candidates must hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, the clearance required for the relevant post.
Role responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of complex, high-impact cases, developing and delivering strategies to reduce serious criminal harm through supervisory, regulatory and law-enforcement interventions, including, where appropriate, pioneering novel and precedent-setting approaches.
- Use intelligence, data and regulatory experience to identify emerging risks early, support innovative approaches to stop criminal activity and deliver meaningful outcomes across the financial system.
- Build effective partnerships across the FCA, government and law enforcement agencies, contributing to significant investigations and developing expertise in financial crime, payments and digital assets regulation.
You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping to prevent serious harm to UK consumers and society. You will work in a fast-paced and high-profile sector, build relationships across the FCA, government and law enforcement, and help shape how intelligence and data are translated into real-world outcomes.

Minimum:
- For one role, hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

- Experience contributing to complex regulatory, intelligence or investigative work, using sound judgement and initiative to deliver effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience of turning intelligence, insight or emerging-risk information into practical strategies, informed decisions and tangible outcomes through collaboration.
Essential:
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Well-developed relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate and work effectively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
