National Commercial Recoveries Executive in Invoice Finance
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake professional, tenacious debtor recovery actions, engaging third‑party law firms or agents in line with client legal panels for a mixed portfolio of commercial client accounts.
- Pursue all possible avenues under the powers of the Invoice Finance Agreement and any supporting security to recover advances that cannot be recovered through sales ledger realisations, to minimise shortfall.
- Deal directly with debtors, clients, directors, guarantors/warrantors, insolvency practitioners or other stakeholders to achieve best possible outcomes.
- Ensure adequate recoveries training is in place and delivered across the UK commercial businesses, informed by changes in the legal environment and learnings from both successful and unsuccessful recovery cases.
- Work with all clients' commercial offices to obtain all required information and to tap all knowledge sources to support recoveries efforts.
- Follow the client’s Bad Debt provision KPC and recommend provisions to appropriate stakeholders on a monthly basis.
- Consistently undertake the role in line with KPC’s for the function.
- Undertake consistent monthly reporting that meets the needs of all core stakeholders.
- Use Riskfactor (or any future system) consistently, enabling all stakeholders to view and understand the recoveries strategy, progress, and expected timescale for each case.
- Be responsible for the collect‑out and bad‑debt‑provision report for one or more commercial business units, ensuring the appropriate Head of Business unit approves prior to submission to clients’ risk and finance, and support the line manager in analysing and reporting on the performance of the commercial recoveries portfolio.
- Recover indebtedness by pursuing securities & sales ledger, initiating legal proceedings or instructing solicitors.
- In conjunction with the risk manager undertake reviews of all bad‑debt provisions of £25k or greater, using the appropriate reporting format, ensuring content is agreed with the line manager and risk manager to drive lessons learned.
- Undertake appropriate sampling and quality‑assurance activities across the function.
- Serve as a UK subject‑matter expert for the Invoice Finance Agreement and supporting security documents, ensuring understanding and adherence to embedded responsibility.
- Maintain awareness of legal, industry issues and developments, circulating relevant updates when appropriate.
- Provide risk support to fulfil internal, statutory, stakeholder and funder audit requirements as may be required.
- Undertake credit control where necessary on high‑risk commercial clients or intensive care cases.
- Undertake any other duties or projects commensurate with the level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
