The Role
As Design Manager, you'll take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring all technical information is coordinated, buildable and aligned with programme requirements. Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams, you'll drive design coordination across CSA, MEP and white space packages, ensuring projects move seamlessly from concept through construction and commissioning. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in data centres or mission-critical environments who enjoys solving technical challenges and influencing project delivery from the earliest stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design management process from tender through to project completion.
- Coordinate architectural, structural, CSA and MEP design teams.
- Manage design programmes and ensure information is issued in line with construction milestones.
- Chair design coordination meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Review drawings and technical submissions for quality, coordination and buildability.
- Identify design risks, clashes and programme impacts, driving solutions before construction.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and design change throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate BIM and multidisciplinary design reviews where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, statutory requirements and industry standards.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial, QA/QC and Commissioning teams to support successful project delivery.
- Support procurement by ensuring design information is complete and suitable for package release.
- Assist during commissioning and project handover to resolve any design-related issues.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within construction or mission-critical projects.
- Experience delivering data centre, pharmaceutical, healthcare or other complex MEP projects.
- Strong understanding of CSA, architectural and MEP coordination.
- Experience managing projects from pre-construction into live construction.
- Ability to review drawings for coordination, buildability and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of BIM processes and multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of procurement and programme management.
- Willingness to travel across Europe as projects require.
- Experience delivering hyperscale or colocation data centres.
- Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural background.
