About FilmNova
FilmNova is an award-winning production company specialising in live sport, digital storytelling and innovative content experiences. From major sports broadcasts to original digital formats, we create content that connects audiences with compelling stories.
We’re developing a creator-led sports and entertainment brand designed specifically for digital audiences. Combining live competition, creator culture and community engagement, it has the potential to become a globally scalable digital media property.
The role is funded through FilmNova’s participation in the BBC and North East Screen Digital Accelerator and is initially offered as a five-month fixed-term contract to support the project’s launch and early growth. You will play an important part in shaping its future direction. Subject to the success and continued development of the project, there may be an opportunity for the role to continue beyond the initial contract period.
The Role
This is a hands‑on role for someone who lives and breathes digital content, social platforms and audience growth.
You will own FilmNova's YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Twitch channels, leading content strategy, publishing, optimisation, audience development and community growth.
Working closely with our production, creative and commercial teams, you'll shape content plans, analyse performance, identify growth opportunities and help build an engaged audience around a new sports entertainment brand.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who have helped launch, grow or scale channels, communities or digital brands from an early stage. We're looking for a builder, not simply an operator.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day management of YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Twitch channels.
- Develop and execute a multi-platform audience growth strategy.
- Create and manage publishing schedules and content calendars.
- Ensure content is optimised for each platform's audience and algorithm.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice, tone and visual identity across channels.
- Establish scalable workflows and processes for digital content publishing.
- Develop platform-specific content strategies that maximise reach, engagement and audience growth.
- Work closely with production teams to influence content decisions based on platform performance and audience insight.
- Develop original content formats, recurring series and audience engagement initiatives.
- Repurpose existing content into platform-native formats.
- Test and refine content approaches through a continuous "test, learn and optimise" methodology.
YouTube Management
- Lead YouTube strategy and optimisation.
- Manage publishing schedules, playlists and channel architecture.
- Optimise titles, thumbnails, metadata and SEO.
- Analyse performance and identify audience and monetisation opportunities.
Social Media & Community Management
- Manage engagement across all social channels.
- Build audience loyalty through active community management.
- Develop strategies to increase reach, engagement and follower growth.
- Support live events and streaming activity through real-time publishing and engagement.
- Create opportunities for audience participation and community‑led content.
Content Creation & Editing
- Collaborate with designers, editors and producers.
- Create captions, copy and supporting assets.
- Capture content using mobile devices where appropriate.
- Ensure content meets platform best practice and brand standards.
Analytics & Performance
- Monitor performance across all platforms.
- Produce regular reports and actionable recommendations.
- Track audience growth, reach, engagement, retention, watch time and revenue performance.
- Use data and insights to continually improve content strategy and publishing decisions.
- Stay ahead of algorithm changes, industry developments and emerging platform.
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience growing YouTube channels, digital communities or creator‑led platforms, ideally from an early-stage position.
- Strong experience managing social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok and Twitch.
- Experience planning and executing successful digital content strategies.
- Excellent working knowledge of YouTube Studio and platform analytics.
- Strong understanding of YouTube SEO, discoverability and audience retention strategies.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere or equivalent.
- Experience creating compelling thumbnails, hooks, titles and social‑first video content.
- Ability to analyse performance data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent written communication and copywriting skills.
- An entrepreneurial and test‑and‑learn approach to audience growth.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- A genuine passion for digital media, creator culture and emerging technologies.
- Experience in sport, entertainment, gaming or creator‑led content.
- Experience building channels from launch.
- Experience managing live streams and Twitch communities.
- Understanding of platform monetisation and creator marketing.
- Experience working with creators, athletes, presenters or talent.
- Experience using AI‑assisted content production tools.
Personal Attributes
- Entrepreneurial and proactive.
- Obsessed with digital content and audience growth.
- Creative, curious and data‑driven.
- Organised, self‑motivated and adaptable.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in fast‑moving environments.
