Head of Legal & Governance
Filming for Humanity (FFH) produces impactful educational films, and we\āre seeking a Head of Legal & Governance to ensure our charity conversion and ongoing film production remain compliant with all legal and regulatory standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine legal expertise with a passion for storytelling and social impact.
Qualifications & Experience
Legal expertise in charity law, governance, contract law, entertainment law, or related fields
Experience reviewing and drafting contracts, with agreements for actors, extras, locations, film crews, and general production documentation
Strong governance knowledge, advising on Charity Commission requirements, board responsibilities, policies, and risk management
Confidence in compliance, including safeguarding, GDPR, data protection, and operational frameworks
Strategic thinking, able to anticipate challenges and offer clear guidance to the Founder and board

Understanding or appreciation of the communities and themes represented in our films
Charity Conversion & Governance
Finalise all legal documentation for transition into a registered charity / CIC
Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements
Support trustee onboarding, governance structures, and policy creation
Review constitutional documents, safeguarding policies, risk registers, and operating procedures
Advise the Founder on bestāpractice governance and longāterm organisational structure
Film Production Legal
Draft and review contracts for actors, extras, crew members, locations, and service providers
Oversee rights, releases, NDAs, and copyright permissions
Review filming consent forms, child protection protocols, and production insurance documents
Ensure all documentation aligns with industry standards and charity law
Contracts & Commercial Documents
Review and advise on partnership agreements, sponsorship contracts, collaborations, and MOUs
Ensure legal compliance across marketing, distribution, and promotional activities
Create templates and systems for consistent, reliable document handling
Ongoing Legal Support
Advise on GDPR and data protection
Support grant applications and funder compliance
Ensure risk mitigation across all creative and operational activities
Act as a trusted sounding board to the Founder, offering clarity, confidence, and solutions
