We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to help lead our Developer Extensibility team as part of the broader Dev Mode team. Dev Mode is a major initiative at Figma focused on building for developers, a key part of our customer base. With the goal of making developers more efficient, improving the collaboration between developers and designers, as well as driving overall improvements to our customers' workflows. The developer extensibility team is just getting started and you would be the first engineering manager to lead this new team, helping define the strategy & roadmap for future extensibility work as it relates to Dev Mode. As all customers' workflows & challenges are unique, extensibility is crucial to enabling customers to drive the largest efficiency gains with Dev Mode by tailoring it to their needs. Extensibility encompasses our plugin platform, REST APIs, integrations with tools such as VSCode, and much more. This is a full-time role that can be held from our London hub or remotely in the UK.
What you’ll do at Figma:
- Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building and expanding Figma’s Dev Mode product.
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions.
- Define strategy & roadmap for your team and execute on that roadmap with a high degree of autonomy, velocity, and craftsmanship.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to your teams and others that collaborate with your teams to ensure a cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions.
- Recruit, mentor and retain high performing engineers (and help with other cross-functional roles).
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and taking calculated risks.
Figma is committed to building an inclusive and diverse team and culture. We expect all of our leaders to play a role in helping to build and drive these initiatives through hiring, community events, and other programs in partnership with teams across all of Figma.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users.
- A proven track record of building products (both as a manager and individual contributor) that are best in class in user experience.
- A relentless focus on business impact through product & engineering excellence.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team; including mentoring, and growing senior engineers.
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- Experience building or leading a team focused on design systems, extensibility, APIs.
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
