Overview
Figma is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Developer Tools team based in London or remote in the UK. The team focuses on building solutions for frontend and full‑stack developers to bring products from idea to production faster.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building and expanding Figma’s developer offerings such as Dev Mode, MCP, Code Connect, and more.
- Partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions.
- Define strategy and roadmap for the team and execute it with high autonomy, velocity, and craftsmanship.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership to the team and collaborators to ensure a cohesive product experience and appropriate technical abstractions.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high‑performing engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and calculated risk‑taking.
- Support inclusive and diverse hiring practices; hold interviews in accessible locations and ensure interview materials are compatible with screen readers.
- Enable closed captioning on video conferencing and consider alternative interview modes or formats when needed.
- Require candidates to keep cameras on during video interviews and attend in‑person onboarding if hired.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users.
- Proven track record of building best‑in‑class products, both as a manager and an individual contributor.
- Relentless focus on business impact through product and engineering excellence.
- Demonstrated leadership in building a high‑performing, highly engaged engineering team, including mentoring and growing senior engineers.
- Experience building large‑scale systems using React, C++, and/or Ruby.
- Experience building and maintaining open‑source software and/or libraries for developers.
