Role Purpose
The PR Manager maximises value for the agency and its clients by helping to lead the development and delivery of impactful public relations strategies and plans that add measurable value to clients’ and Fifth Ring’s business.
Responsibilities
- Client
- Maintain Fifth Ring’s client portfolio by fostering, leading and realising creative and dynamic ideas and solutions that increase clients’ marketability in their chosen marketplace.
- Identify and support the growth of key client accounts, and lead key project negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management in client companies, ensuring we are speaking to the right people at the right time, including troubleshooting when required.

- Lead PR programmes and campaigns through well-researched and evaluated account planning, scopes of work, budget management and team leadership.
- Represent the company at a senior level, for example through networking and industry presentations.
- Support the creation of new-business proposals, providing creative and dynamic ideas and recommendations along with timescales and budgets for delivery.
- Take a senior role in bringing inbound and account-based marketing to clients.
- Contribute to Fifth Ring’s own content and marketing activity with regular articles or wider content ideas.
- Colleagues & Commercial
- Effectively prioritise your own and the team’s workload, ensuring time logged on client accounts is accurate and efficient to minimise over-servicing.
- Manage client budgets and communicate updates to the support team in a clear and timely manner.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members to help deliver award-winning work on time and in budget.
- Work effectively with the Traffic Manager to ensure tasks are assigned across relevant team members and delivered on time to a high standard.
- Provide the business development team with support as required.
- Crisis & Emergency Response (Desirable)
- Participate in the emergency response (ER) on-call rota and provide a robust ER service for clients (after training).
- Provide crisis communications counsel and reactive PR support, working with the PR & Crisis Communications Manager, who leads the crisis offer and coordinates the ER rota.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in PR, marketing, journalism or equivalent
- Experience in a PR role, including strategic campaign planning, reactive PR, media relations and crisis communications
- Experience in a client-facing environment and of working with the media
- Effective writing and presentation skills; fluent in English
- IT literate, with an understanding of the digital landscape
- Agency and management experience
- Experience developing and delivering pitches
- Knowledge and experience of the oil and gas industry
- Crisis communications and emergency response experience
- An understanding of business-to-business marketing and communications
- Commercial awareness and the ability to influence and operate at a senior level
