At FIFTH Movement, we help children build healthier, happier lives through movement. Across Greater Manchester, we deliver PE PPA cover, Swim:ED (our mobile swimming programme), active clubs, forest school, CPD, and holiday camps to primary schools and communities. We’re growing quickly, and we’re looking for an Operations Manager who can help keep our delivery running smoothly, professionally, and to a consistently high standard as we scale.
This is a key role within the business with genuine ownership, variety, and autonomy.
The Role
It’s a varied role that combines practical problem-solving, relationship management, organisation, and operational oversight. Some days will be site based supporting pool operations, while others will focus on coach coordination, compliance tracking, quality assurance visits, and supporting schools. We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, stays calm under pressure, and takes pride in keeping things organised and running properly behind the scenes. The right person will be proactive, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple moving parts without needing close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee pool installation, setup, and pack-down at school sites across Stockport and Tameside
- Support the safe and effective running of pool operations
- Maintain pool compliance records, risk assessments, and operational documentation
- Support lifeguards and swim teachers with site procedures and operational checks
- Act as a point of contact for pool related operational issues, including occasional out of hours support when required
- Coordinate a team of coaches delivering PE and extracurricular activities
- Arrange cover and support delivery continuity when changes arise
- Manage coach communication, scheduling, and operational administration
- Carry out quality assurance visits across partner schools
- Help maintain strong relationships with schools and ensure a high standard of delivery across services
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in an operations, coordination, sports, leisure, or education-based role
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Confident communicator who can build positive relationships with schools, coaches, and external providers
- A proactive and dependable approach to work
- Comfortable contributing to hands-on operational tasks including pool setup and equipment handling
- Full UK driving licence and own car (applications without will not be considered)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Background in school sport, swimming, or physical education
The right person for this role is someone who can roll their sleeves up on a pool setup and then sit down, stay methodical, and make sure every compliance record is filed correctly. Both things need to come naturally to you.
What We Offer
- Time off in lieu for any out-of-hours operational support
- A varied role with genuine responsibility and autonomy
- The opportunity to play a key part in a growing organisation making a positive impact in schools and communities
- A supportive, ambitious team environment where good ideas and initiative are valued
