Job Purpose: To assist the Operations Manager with the efficient and effective management of designated Sport and Leisure Centres in order to maximise benefits for customers, staff and the company’s stakeholders and partners.

Requirements:

  • Educated to SVQ4, HND, general degree or equivalent
  • Full U.K. Driving Licence, insurance for business use and own transport for which the HMRC travel allowance will be paid
  • Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain a PVG through Disclosure Scotland

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of leisure centres effectively and efficiently in line with the company policy
  • Ensure standards are maintained in a fair and consistent manner and where appropriate conduct disciplinary investigations and meetings as agreed by the Operations Manager
  • Ensure the correct interpretation, application and management of the company’s policies
  • Assist with the development and implementation of annual operational plans
  • Ensure that the delivery and operation of all services, programmes and events is in accordance with agreed quality standards and customer service standards
  • Ensure the efficient and effective deployment of staff and other resources including all aspects of Health and Safety
  • Ensure that all advertising, recruitment, induction and termination of staff is in accordance with company policy
  • Constantly review and recommend change to services offered at the centres, ensuring equity of access for the local community and visitors to Fife
  • Ensure that agreed performance and quality assurance targets are met
  • Keep abreast of trends in customer and programme patterns by regular monitoring
  • Ensure the efficient and effective marketing and promotion of services
  • Ensure that all customers receive high quality services through the provision and operation of sport, recreation and physical activity programmes and events
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the preparation and management of revenue and capital budgets
  • Ensure that financial, client requirements and community needs are met and provide strategic and operational support to drive the business forward
  • Implement the actions, related to staff and customer research surveys
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and talks to local groups and organisations as required

The Individual:

  • Significant experience working within the Leisure Industry
  • Substantial experience operating professionally in an operational management role with a wide range of job associated activities
  • Significant experience in the following specialism:
    • Policy development
    • Knowledge Management
    • Strategy Implementation
    • Organisational change
  • Experience of coaching, developing, supervising, supporting and directing others, including the ability to maintain the confidence of staff, customers, senior management and other managers within the Company
  • The ability to lead, plan and implement change and improvements
  • Experience in managing staff and developing a team approach
  • Ability to motivate and set clear direction for staff and adopt team working practices in relation to customer needs, operational facility plans, legal compliance, risk management and equality and diversity
  • Ability to set working objectives and achieve results
  • Ability to manage projects and develop programmes in ways which improve performance and deliver effective services to customers
  • Experience of analysing statistical data and preparing management information
  • An understanding of the role of the company and the contribution that sport, recreation and physical activity can make to the wider agenda of health
  • Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues, partners and customers
