Compass is a multidisciplinary team which supports people who are at high risk of harm due to use of alcohol or other substances. We specifically support people who are not able to benefit from the supports offered by other agencies. This can be for various reasons, such as challenges with managing appointments, having a negative experience with services in the past, or feeling unable to make changes.
This post is based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital, although the majority of your time will be spent working in the local community.
Within this role your main responsibilities would include:

Motivating the people you support and helping them to develop hope in terms of their future

Supporting people to engage in community activities

Support with practical tasks, such as access to benefits or attending appointments

You will have a high level of empathy, and the willingness to learn about the complex reasons which lead to problematic substance use.
Lived or professional experience of supporting people experiencing problematic substance use would be an advantage, but is not essential. The most important thing is that you are willing to undertake the necessary learning to support the people we work with.
Due to the nature of the role, the ability to travel throughout Fife is essential.
The following are also required:

HNC Health and Social Care, or relevant experience with ability to undertake the HNC qualification
