We are looking for motivated dynamic enthusiastic Social Work Assistants to be a part of our newly formed busy Enhanced Children and Families Teams.

The role involves engaging and supporting children, families and carers in the community, contributing to the assessment of need and risk as part of care planning processes led by the Social Workers, taking an active part in supporting family time and sibling contact, building skills and capacity within families to promote strong attachments and positive parenting, direct work with parents/care givers and children, as well as contributing to the delivery of targeted group and community work.

The Person

You will be skilled at building positive relationships and resilience in families, work in collaboration with partners . Health Service, Education, Police and voluntary sector agencies, you will be a good team player and work well independently, have strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong organisational and time-management abilities. You will have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure and be willing to learn and engage in professional development. You will practice in a way that empowers others.

Experience of working in Children and Families settings is desirable, particularly statutory settings. We are child focused, non discriminatory, strength based and trauma informed, non stigmatising and inclusive, and adopt a whole family approach.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
