Older People’s Services has 8 residential services across Fife, with a team based in each service. You can view each of the service locations, listed at the top of this advert, and will be asked to provide your location preference at interview.

The successful candidate will work on a relief / casual basis within the care home, including early shifts, late shifts, and night duty. Unsocial hours will be paid at the basic rate plus 1/3 hourly rate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for skilled and enthusiastic individuals to join our care home team in Fife Council’s Residential and Day Services.

We are looking for motivated and driven individuals with good values and a genuine interest in caring for older people within the care homes. Responsibilities include providing positive support and encouragement for people to make their own choices and decisions, as well as providing flexible support to enable service users to access activities and achieve their personal outcomes. This involves promoting social inclusion by working with service users to maximize their personal independence, health, wellbeing, and access to community services.

The care homes in Fife provide ongoing care and support to vulnerable older people, including respite, STAR unit, and day services.

The Person

  • Must have or be able to work towards the required qualification SVQ 2, as required by the Scottish Social Services Council. Once qualified, it is the individual\’s responsibility to inform the Scottish Social Services Council accordingly within the set timeframes.
  • Provide care and support that meets the Health and Social Care standards.
  • Must be able to work with other Council services and partner agencies to support effective planning and delivery of care and support.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively within a dynamic and ambitious team is essential.

Additional Requirements

  • Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
  • As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
  • If appointed, you must start your registration application as soon as possible to ensure registration within six months. More details are included in the role profile.
