Working Pattern: 36 hours per week - working 4 days out of 5 on a rolling day off each week, 9 hours per day 07:00-16:30

Location: Glenrothes, Dunfermline or Cupar

Supporting Statement: As part of your application, you must provide us with a Supporting Statement which outlines how your skills and experience make you a good candidate for this vacancy. Meeting daily waste collection quotas working as part of a team. Uplifting domestic and commercial waste containers, wheeled containers, sacks or loose waste (which can involve odorous materials) in all weather conditions, including severe weather lasting several days. Collect and position waste containers onto the vehicle’s lifting gear and return when emptied with proper consideration for the users of the containers and for pedestrians. Enter private properties; take out waste containers and sacks and return emptied waste containers to their original location. Load sacks, loose waste and larger items by hand into the vehicle hopper or skip or bin for disposal. Use and operate associated tools and equipment as required. Clean the interior and exterior of refuse collection vehicles at required intervals. Under the driver’s direction, assist in routine vehicle checks. Undertake other general labouring duties, including manual snow and ice clearing and saltspreading.

The Person: You must be physically able to walk considerable distances every day, collecting and loading heavy wheeled containers and sacks. You must be capable of manual outdoor working in all weathers, have physical working dexterity and a flexible approach towards carrying out a range of tasks. You should be a team worker with clear verbal communication skills and a ‘can-do’ approach to help resolve problems. You must be able to provide regular and effective service.
