You will promote social inclusion and offer opportunities for people within Adult Services (Resources), Complex and Critical Care Services across Fife. You will be supporting people who experience challenges with their health, primarily in Adult Mental Health, Schizophrenia, Autism, Physical Health, or Learning Disabilities. You’ll be providing support with the varying aspects of day-to-day life.

Your role will involve delivering care and support, including participating in a range of social and recreational activities. You will encourage people to make their own decisions and choices in all aspects of their daily lives and to live as independently as possible. You will support service users by increasing their social and independent living skills in their own home in a person-centred way that promotes the principles of social inclusion.

You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team and other professionals, building relationships with service users and assisting with various needs. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a commitment to helping people regain independence and well-being, offering guidance and support, helping individuals navigate challenges, develop coping mechanisms, and access necessary resources, identifying and linking individuals with relevant services, including social support groups, mental health services, and community resources.

Duties include all aspects of personal care, and you must have the physical ability to undertake all Moving and Handling manoeuvres and tasks, including the pushing and pulling of wheelchairs. Flexibility will be required in the way the days/hours are worked for each post, dependent on the needs of service users. The successful candidate will work on an as-required basis, which includes days, evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and wakened nights, including public holidays, Christmas, and New Year.

The successful candidate will promote social inclusion by working with people to maximise their personal independence, health, and wellbeing to access opportunities in their local communities. The role will include working as part of a team as well as lone working. Keyworker duties are a requirement for this role, including assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing individual support plans and keeping accurate records of outcomes-focused support planning and review for the people whom you support.

Successful applicants will be provided with all necessary training such as Moving and Handling and mandatory training as per organisational requirements. Candidates must be physically fit to undertake all aspects of Moving and Handling and CALM training. Service Induction and Mandatory Training will be provided.

The Person: Must have or be willing to achieve, in the first period of registration, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (equivalent to SVQ3) or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration. Must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as lone working.

Successful applicants will be provided with all necessary training such as Moving and Handling and mandatory training as per organisational requirements. Candidates must be physically fit to undertake all aspects of Moving and Handling and CALM training. The successful candidate must demonstrate good communication skills, organisational skills, the ability to manage and prioritise workload, the ability to work with minimal supervision, team working skills, literacy skills, and have IT skills and the ability to lead and mentor Care Assistants.

The successful candidate must have a desire to advocate for the rights and well-being of individuals with mental health conditions and a willingness to work with challenging behaviour, with the ability to remain calm and supportive when faced with difficult or challenging situations. The successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of various mental health conditions and their impact on individuals.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland. You will have experience/awareness of National Care Standards service and SSSC Codes of Practice.
