The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or senior member of staff to assist by supporting children and young people who have been identified as requiring additional support.
You will be required to:
- Support pupils/children individually or in class or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
- Contribute information to update planning and review process for individual pupils/children.
- Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication.
- Offer a high level of personal care which will enable the pupil/child to function to their full potential, including toileting, administering medication in line with agreed training procedures, and encouraging self-help and independence.
- Carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists, including speech and language programmes, physiotherapy, and/or occupational therapy programmes.
- Support pupil/child mobility (as defined by moving and handling training) on an emergency/short-term basis and for low level needs, such as supporting toileting or short term injury like a broken leg.
Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements:
- Educated to SCQF level 5, which includes National 5 or Standard Grades at General level or O’ Grades or equivalent.
- You are required to have good levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
- Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs.
- Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
