Responsibilities

In this catering role you will be responsible for all activities in the kitchen and its surroundings, including cooking, organisation, supervision of food service, ensuring HACCP procedures are followed and all paperwork is completed.

  • Supervise kitchen staff.
  • Understand dietary and nutritional needs.
  • Transport and serve meals.
  • General kitchen and dining‑room duties: washing up, setting up and clearing tables, cleaning kitchen surroundings.

Location & Working Hours

Permanent vacancy at St Ninians RC Primary School, Cardenden.
Working 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 08:00 am and 03:00 pm on a 38‑week term‑time only basis.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary: £25,885.80 to £28,175.91 pro‑rata and annualised payments.

  • £13.79 per hour to start, plus extra payments for shift work (including weekends).
  • Pay is annualised for term‑time contracts (equal instalments every 4‑week pay period).
  • Membership of the Fife Pension Fund, part of the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS Scotland).

Qualifications & Requirements

Providing a regular and effective service, working alone or as part of a team.

Essential: catering experience or a qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.

Need to attend an induction training day before starting in post.

Training & Induction

Training on in‑house systems will be provided. Working towards an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate will be essential once in post.

Before confirmation of appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
