About the Role
The Digital Capability Lead will be responsible for the development, delivery and embedding of a college-wide programme to build staff capability and confidence in digital skills, data literacy, artificial intelligence (AI), and support innovative pedagogical practice. The role will ensure that all staff are equipped and confident to use digital systems and tools, data-informed approaches, emerging AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning, assessment and operational effectiveness, and support the embedding of effective pedagogical practice. The role will champion cultural change across staff capability and confidence, foster innovation in teaching and learning and ensure alignment between workforce capability, curriculum transformation and organisational priorities. The Digital Capability Lead will also support the development of student digital capability and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a structured development programme to upskill all staff in digital skills, data literacy and AI capability.
- Support both academic and professional services staff through role-specific learning pathways.
- Identify capability gaps through specific training needs analysis methods and organisational data.
- Develop staff confidence in the use of technology to improve learner engagement, retention, achievement and progression.
- Deliver identified training sessions to support capability development in both staff and students.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- HND or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of Learning and Development practices.
- Experience leading digital capability, data literacy or staff development initiatives within education or a large organisation.
- Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating professional development programmes.
Desirable
- Qualification in Staff Development.
- Relevant teaching qualification.
- Programme or project management experience.
- Experience leading organisational or cultural change initiatives.

- Strong understanding of digital skills frameworks, digital capability development and educational technology.
