The Role of Registered Manager

As Registered Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the home. You will be the safeguarding lead, ensuring the service remains emotionally safe, nurturing, and fully compliant with Ofsted and regulatory requirements. Your leadership will inspire, motivate, and develop your team, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring every young person receives exceptional, personalised care that enables them to grow, develop, and flourish.

Key responsibilities of Registered Manager:

  • Providing strong, confident, and compassionate leadership
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Embedding trauma-informed, child-centred practice
  • Managing budgets, staffing, resources, and rota systems
  • Driving continuous improvement and maintaining high standards
  • Building positive relationships with children, families, and professionals
  • Prioritising safeguarding and ensuring adherence to all processes
  • Supervising, supporting, and developing staff at all levels
  • Contributing to long-term planning and strategic development

Who We’re Looking For:

At least 2 years working experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a Registered Children’s Home where the rating of their home is good to outstanding. A minimum of two years’ experience at senior level in a Children’s Home. Experience working with children who have learning disabilities and/or neuro-difficulties. Have a very good understanding of the children’s homes regulations and quality standards, 2015. Have good knowledge and experience working as a designated safeguarding lead in children’s residential home(s).

Registered Manager qualifications:

  • The Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services (or you are willing to work towards this)
  • NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care (Children’s Pathway) combined with a Leadership and Management Qualification
