Role Overview

We are looking for a Peak Season Operations Assistant to join our team for a fixed‑term contract from September to December. You will work alongside our Operations & Supply Chain Coordinator, reporting directly to the Head of Operations, and help keep the supply chain, customer experience and day‑to‑day operations running smoothly during our busiest Christmas period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier & Procurement Support
    • Coordinate with suppliers on order volumes, delivery schedules and lead times.
    • Place purchase orders and monitor stock availability.
    • Flag supply risks early and support supplier due diligence and compliance checks.
  • Logistics & Delivery
    • Support the flow of goods from warehouse to customer.
    • Troubleshoot delivery issues and communicate solutions quickly.
    • Collaborate with the Customer Experience team to resolve delivery problems and arrange replacements.
    • Coordinate ERP system issue resolution with IT partners.
  • Inventory & Stock
    • Monitor stock levels against demand and flag shortfalls or excess.
    • Ensure website stock accuracy and manage sales of fixed‑volume products.
    • Support accurate stock counts, reconciliation and record maintenance across systems.
    • Assist with intake of product and quality assurance checks.
  • General Operations Support
    • Work closely with the Operations & Supply Chain Coordinator on overflow tasks.
    • Report directly to the Head of Operations and adapt to shifting priorities.
    • Support ad‑hoc projects and problem‑solving during the peak season.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in supplier coordination, logistics or a similar operations/supply‑chain role; experience in food, FMCG or DTC/e‑commerce a plus.
  • Comfortable working with data and systems (Excel and stock/ERP systems).
  • A proactive, calm under pressure approach.
  • Adaptable to switching between tasks at short notice.
  • Strong communication skills and confident liaising with suppliers, couriers and internal teams.
  • Impeccably organised with good attention to detail in orders, records and deadlines.
  • Ability to work from our office/warehouse in Shepton Mallet for the contract duration (100% on‑site).

Working Hours

Friday 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; during the peak period (12 December – 5 January) variable shifts will include weekends or unsociable hours.

Location

Quarry Way Business Park – Waterlip, Shepton Mallet. As public transport is limited, applicants should have reliable transport and live within a reasonable commuting distance. Free parking is available on site.
