This is a permanent position but is a European role with travel accordingly when required. The role will report into the CFO.

About Fieldfisher: Fieldfisher LLP is a full-service European law firm with market-leading practices in technology, financial services, energy & natural resources and life sciences. Fieldfisher is an ambitious and growing European law firm servicing an impressive client base that includes big name brands and international businesses. The firm has over 300 partners, 700 other lawyers and 650 support staff across offices in the UK and Internationally. The firm's revenue for 2025/26 was £375 million. Following significant double-digit growth, there continues to be a need to modernise and adapt the finance function and to introduce more commercial expertise into the firm to continue to deliver efficiency in our processes and commercial analysis to the growing firm. A key driver of this modernisation is to continue to develop a dynamic pricing team and a pricing strategy that is fit for the growth ambitions of the firm. This role will work closely with the firm's legal teams, partners and central management. This is a senior role in our finance department and will encompass managing the commercial pricing function and supporting the CFO in all aspects of commercial pricing matters. The role will work alongside two other key roles in the finance team, being the Head of Operational Finance and the Head of Commercial Finance, to support the CFO in driving and delivering a sustained transition programme to modernise finance processes and reporting systems, to better support and educate a dynamic partnership and to introduce greater technological and efficiency changes across the whole European finance function.

Working closely with Partners and business leaders, the role bridges strategy and execution— using data, analysis and strong stakeholder relationships to influence decision‑making and improve outcomes for the firm.

  • Consider the need for a European pricing committee and be an integral part of this as required
  • Consider and implement appropriate pricing software to aid commercial efficiencies
  • Consider modern pricing of alternative billing techniques (moving away from the hourly rate) such as fixed fee and in particular the impact of AI, automation and pricing of new products and service lines.
  • Supporting partners on bids and pitches with pricing negotiations and effective pricing options
  • Win the confidence and respect of the Partners and other key stakeholders
  • Perform financial modelling to support pricing decisions, improve the firm’s pricing analytics capabilities and better understand and predict costs of delivering work.
  • Develop metrics and reporting tools to clearly illustrate trends and analysis of pricing performance.
  • Review existing and historic pricing agreements with clients to identify opportunities for improvement and profitability increases.
  • Coaching and supporting Partners in understanding pricing levers and their commercial impact
  • Managing the firm’s annual rate review process

  • Work with the finance project team and with IT teams to improve data quality, and reporting capabilities.
  • Responsibility for identifying legal processes which would benefit from technology, such as AI, to improve margin if alternative pricing was developed.

Team

  • Responsibility for managing the pricing team.

  • Running regular Pricing training sessions and meetings to share best practice.

Stakeholder Engagement
