The Vacancy

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join us as an Internal Communications and Engagement Lead , based in our Belfast office. The role focuses on the overview, development and delivery of the firm's strategic internal communications and engagement programmes. These programmes are crucial in ensuring that our business, culture and people are effectively communicated and embraced across the firm.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Business Development and Marketing and will be instrumental in engaging with initiatives designed to foster closer collaboration and information sharing among our internal stakeholders. The candidate will work closely with lawyers and Business Services teams across Fieldfisher's international network, making this a truly collaborative and impactful role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on the development of internal communications and engagement programmes focused on:
    • the firm's business strategy and its rollout across the network
    • people and inclusion strategy and its implementation across the firm
    • ESG programmes and the firm's efforts to reduce environmental impact, improve social responsibility and enhance corporate governance
    • employer brand campaigns and recruitment outcomes.
  • Produce and coordinate content across the key strands of employer brand, people strategy, business strategy and ESG to meet the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all communications maintain the firm's tone of voice and brand positioning.
  • Play a key editorial role and supervise content development across a number of formats including newsletters, intranet articles, electronic slides and social media posts.
  • Advise Business Services teams on their initiatives and programmes to ensure smooth adoption across the firm.
  • Advise on content development and structure of creative assets needed for recruitment campaigns, careers site and social media.
  • Support our team of PR and communications colleagues in identifying employer brand, inclusion and ESG initiatives that can be leveraged for media activities.
  • Mentor junior team members and exercise quality control to our communications assets the desired quality standards.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in language/literature, journalism, business, marketing, law or related fields.
  • At least five years of related experience gained in a similar role.
  • Excellent writing skills are essential, with strong copy/proofing skills and the ability to adapt to different styles and audiences.
  • Experience in developing successful communications and content campaigns.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex issues, comprehend and execute against strategic priorities and remain composed and focused in pressurised environments.
  • Experience working with different media formats including the ability to package dynamic media content including video/broadcast.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to deliver and execute communication programmes that address business needs and produce tangible outcomes.
  • Understanding of the corporate ESG and sustainability landscape, including net zero strategies and climate transition plans.
  • Good project manager and familiarity in managing and working with third parties and agencies.
  • Motivated, self-starter able to operate independently, with a profound commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices.
